Powderham Castle has been our family home for over 600 years. Originally built by Sir Philip Courtenay in the 14th century, it has evolved with time—but much of its original character remains. We’re proud to say that Philip and his descendants would still feel at home here today.
Living in such a beautiful and historic place is a real privilege, and we love being able to share it with visitors from all over the world.
There’s far more to experience here than we could ever enjoy on our own—from stunning architecture and gardens to centuries of fascinating stories. And the truth is, we couldn’t maintain this incredible place without your support. So when you visit, you’re not just exploring a castle—you’re helping preserve a piece of living history.
Thank you for being part of it. We hope your visit leaves you with wonderful memories and a lasting connection to Powderham.
