THE DODDINGTON ESTATE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at one of Lincolnshire’s finest gardens open to the public,
Doddington Hall & Gardens. Doddington Hall is an Elizabethan country house set in a large estate.
The gardens comprise 2 acres of Kitchen Garden and 5 acres of ornamental gardens open to the
public, plus, about 11 acres of other grounds on the estate. The estate also has shops, cafes and
holiday cottages.

SKILLS & QUALITIES

We are looking for a hard-working, enthusiastic individual to join our team of gardeners. Ideally, we
are looking for someone with a good experience of vegetable growing; who would be comfortable
with taking on some of the responsibilities of planning and organising our two-acre Kitchen Garden;
someone who is familiar with seed propagation and is also comfortable working in other areas of the
gardens as and when needed, especially in busy periods of the year.

Overall Purpose:

Reporting to the Chair and Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive is responsible for delivering HTNW’s remit as a building preservation Trust and cultural heritage organisation and developing and growing the charity both in terms of its impact and financial strengths.

Salary based on experience – £45,000 to £50,000 pa. See further information below.

  • with experience of working in a garden on a country estate
  • who would be comfortable with taking on some of the responsibilities of planning and organising our ornamental gardens
  • familiar with plant propagation
  • comfortable pruning trees and shrubs, hedge clipping and topiary work
  • with experience growing vegetables

The role is a full-time permanent position and the hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-4.30pm however
some weekend, evening and Bank Holiday working may be required occasionally.

Volunteer for Grinling Gibbons Exhibition

Volunteers are needed to join us in the prestigious Bonhams salerooms in New Bond Street to oversee the public visiting the Grinling Gibbons exhibition. You will need to keep an eye out to ensure the safety and security of all objects and will be briefed to answer any visitor questions.

Ideally, volunteers will help daily across a week from Monday to Friday. The weeks on offer are: August 3-6, August 9-13, August 16-20 and August 23-27.  If, however, you are only available for a limited selection of days or even one day, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate this.  Slots will be filled on a first come/first served basis. We would be delighted to have you for more than one week if you are interested.

House Administrator – Maternity Cover at Deene Park

This is a full-time, fixed term maternity cover position.

The role is responsible for carrying out all duties relating to the public opening of the house and gardens.

It is a varied role which encompasses the day-to-day management of 28 public open days, group visits and guided tours, house events, seasonal staff and volunteers, marketing, and various other tasks to ensure the smooth running of the public calendar.

Practical experience in visitor services, tourism or heritage would be an advantage for this varied position.

This fixed term maternity cover position would begin in October 2021 and end in January 2023.
