Sutton Park is a fine example of early Georgian architecture overlooking beautiful parkland.
It is filled with a rich collection of 18th-century treasures all put together with great style to make a most grand but inviting lived in stately home.
Frequent winner in Yorkshire in Bloom – Gold Award 2024 – the gardens attract visitors from both home and abroad and have been featured in many prestigious publications. Herbaceous and rose borders are full of rare and interesting plants laid out with great care over the past 50 years.
In the grounds are a walled pond garden, Edwardian Fernery, Georgian Ice House, and a Woodland Walk. There are also tearooms to visit.

Sutton Park is a private family home of the Sheffield family located in North Yorkshire. The house and gardens are open to the public for limited periods each year, with specific conditions and times for access.
House Opening Times
The Grade I listed house at Sutton Park is open for guided tours only during the following periods in 2026:
- 2nd to 4th May
- 1st to 31st August
Guided tours are available at 1:30 PM and 2:45 PM. Booking in advance via email ([email protected]) or telephone (01347 810249) is advisable.
Gardens Opening Times
The award-winning gardens at Sutton Park are open during the following periods in 2026:
- 2nd to 4th May
- 1st July to 31st August
The gardens are open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on these dates. Please note that toilets in the grounds are only available during these opening times, and dogs are not permitted in the gardens.
Admission Fees
- House and Garden Admission: £15.00 (Children under 16 free)
- Gardens Only Admission: £10.00 (Children under 16 free)
- Private Tours: £20.00 per person (minimum 10 people)
Payments are cash only. Members of Historic Houses can enjoy free admission to the gardens and house (guided tours only on advertised opening dates) by presenting their membership cards.

There is limited access for disabled visitors in the house. Accessible toilets are available in the grounds during the house and garden opening dates.
Miss Daisy’s Tearooms

Sutton Park offers two unique accommodations:
- The Galtres Treehouse: A luxurious treehouse for two, featuring a king-size bed, outdoor bathtub, firepit, and access to the estate gardens.
- The Chauffeurs Cottage: A period cottage for two, welcoming pets, with access to the estate gardens and nearby attractions.
