There are three disabled parking bays available a short distance from the Ticket Office in our lower car park.
Please be aware that there are steps leading down into the Ticket Office with a hand support rail. The side gate can be opened if necessary.
A route without steps is available to the House and to the Orangery Tea Room. The distance from the Ticket Office to the Orangery is roughly 200 yards.
There are disabled toilets and baby change facilities available in the West Wing. The Orangery and visitor toilets at the entrance next to the ticket office both have disabled toilets.
A lift is available to all floors of the house that are open for public viewing.
There is a good colour contrast between the floor and walls for those with visual impairment.
Assistance dogs are welcome, provided that they are wearing the appropriate coat, lead, or harness. No other dogs are permitted in the house or grounds.
With humble beginnings as a Cistercian Monastic house in 1154, Stoneleigh Abbey was converted at the dissolution into a comfortable family home. As one of the seats of the Leigh family, Stoneleigh played host to several people of note, including King Charles I, Queen Victoria, and novelist Jane Austen.
The fine Grade 1 listed English mansion is comprised of two halves. The first half is made out of red sandstone and is a fine example of a Jacobean county house. The second, the West Wing, was designed by the famous architect, Francis Smith of Warwick, in the Baroque Style.
The grounds at Stoneleigh Abbey were designed by Humphry Repton, the famous eighteenth-century landscape gardener. In 1809, Humphry Repton’s hand-painted Red Book provided Reverend Thomas Leigh, owner of Stoneleigh Abbey at the time, with ample ideas for improvement.
Works have begun at Stoneleigh to restore the grounds as Repton intended, featuring spectacular views of the house from across the River Avon. It was the preference of Repton that the alterations to the estate should enhance natural beauty rather than tame it.

The house is open by guided tour only.
Tour times are 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Historic Houses members visit for free.
If you arrive on the day to our ticket office with your membership cards we will be able to book you onto a tour and give you access to the grounds free of charge.

Stoneleigh Abbey is located just off of the A46 on the B4115 Ashow Road, Kenilworth.
Head southbound from the A45/A46 junction along the A46. Take the first exit signed Stoneleigh / Warwick Arts Centre, turn left signed Stoneleigh. Then in 100m, turn right at the crossroads signed B4115 Stoneleigh Abbey & Ashow.
In 1.5 miles, the Abbey is signed as a left turn. Please note that there is no access to Stoneleigh Abbey from Stoneleigh Park. Please follow signs instead of the sat nav.
