An avenue of double oaks leads to a mellow Tudor building with fine detailing, surrounded by a large, fish-filled moat with two outer moats. The site dates from the Anglo-Saxon period.
The house has recently undergone an award-winning restoration. The adjoining barn, also sixteenth century and earlier, is one of the longest in the country, part of which is thought to have been an early court hall. Fine garden setting.
The garden, with courtyard following sixteenth-century footings, formal pool garden and knot garden, has been designed by Xa Tollemache.
Visiting Crows Hall is like visiting a friend for tea. Guided tour by the owner of the house, grounds and some of the historic outbuildings. Teas, coffee, cakes and biscuits offered. Private tours available by prior arrangement.

I visited Crow's Hall with my local National Trust Group (Woodford & District). We have many lovely days out arranged, not all of them to National Trust properties. We were a party of approx. 50 people and were delighted with what we saw and heard at the medieval, moated Crow's Hall. After coffee on arrival, the group was split into two - one group was taken around the house by the current owner and the other group was taken around the gardens by the head gardener. The groups then swapped over and this was followed by a delicious salad lunch followed by strawberries and cream!
The house is fascinating and we all learnt a lot about its history and construction. I would highly recommend a visit to this property.
