Support our cause
As a not-for-profit organisation we rely on your generosity to carry out vital work supporting independent owners to look after their heritage for future generations
Help us to keep our nation’s past alive
We fund the bulk of our work – advising, representing, and supporting independent heritage – from membership subscriptions. But additional gifts, whether regular contributions, one-off donations, or a legacies in a will, are essential extra sources of income if we’re to provide guidance needed to maintain these properties and allow their voice to be heard.
Any gift makes a difference, no matter how large or small, and enables us to secure the future of these remarkable places for future loved ones to enjoy.
In the past year or so generous gifts from our members have enabled us to:
undertake research on the benefits member places provide to the mental and physical wellbeing of the nation, enabling us to make a powerful economic argument to the Treasury that reforming Heritage Maintenance Funds would lead to more access to historic sites and a healthier population
jointly supervise, with Oxford University, a PhD student to research the emergence of the current political settlement with regards to country houses between the end of the Second World War and today
brief owners on the latest coronavirus rules and how they can ensure that any public access they’re able to offer is as safe as possible and doesn’t risk spreading the virus
offer training to our staff at our houses in using social media to widen their audiences and engage with the public during lockdown
