General Opening Times
Newby Hall and Gardens are open from 28th March 2026 to 27th September 2026. During this period, the estate is open Wednesday to Sunday and on Bank Holidays during school term time. During the Easter, May half-term, and summer school holidays, the estate is open seven days a week.
Note that the estate will be closed from 14th to 20th September 2026 to prepare for the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show, which takes place from 18th to 20th September 2026.
Attractions and Facilities
- The House: Open for guided tours lasting one hour. Tours must be pre-booked online. Availability may vary due to weddings or other events.
- The Gardens: Open from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM on non-event days. Admission requires a ticket, which can be pre-booked for a discounted rate.
- The Miniature Railway: Operates every day the estate is open. Tickets are £3 per ride, with under-2s riding for free. A book of 20 tickets is available for £50.
- Dollshouse Exhibition: Open from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Admission is included with a Gardens ticket.
Special Notes
- Dogs are not allowed in the Gardens or Woodland, except for guide and assistance dogs. A designated dog exercise area is available near the picnic area.
- Disabled facilities include parking spaces, accessible paths, and wheelchair/scooter hire. A wheelchair map is available at the Ticket Office.
- Season tickets are available for unlimited visits to the Gardens from April to September. Prices are £55 for adults and £30 for children (ages 2-15).

Groups of 15 or more can benefit from discounted entry plus free entry for group leaders, couriers and coach drivers.
Newby presents endless opportunities for an inspirational educational visit. The ancient sculptures in the Statue Gallery and the interactive Zimbabwean Sculpture Workshops (from June) give wonderful scope for discovering the arts.
The woodland walk and gardens provide a wealth of material, while the house itself is a very special environment in which to explore form, colour, design and mathematical proportion as well as architecture and social history. During June, July and August, Matombo Zimbabwean Sculpture workshops are available free of charge for all ages – please ask.
Newby’s wonderful adventure playground is a fantastic place to let off steam with an amazing variety of experiences including the miniature railway. There is a large picnic area close to the coach park for lunch and if it is wet, we will do our best to provide undercover space.

Newby is also home to the exciting Adventure Gardens – with a sand pit, swings, dancing water fountains, miniature railway, pedalo boats, aerial zip wire and much, much more.
