Ty Coch Water Mill
Ty Coch, Pontdolgoch, Caersws SY17 5NJ
Ty Coch is a Grade 2* Victorian wheelwrights and village carpenters workshop. It’s unique in Wales and probably Britain for it has remained in continuous use, never restored and always privately owned. It was the UK’s last commercial wheel wrights shop commercially operating until the early 1990s.
The Times described it as one of ten best working Mills in the UK.
It’s powered by an overshoot iron water wheel driving the Bandsaw, a Georgian Lathe and the main saws. It’s currently used for carpentry : especially restoration of antiques: longcase and lantern clocks
