The tour comprises a guided tour of the principal downstairs rooms and garden. The tour is led by a member of the family who has detailed knowledge of the history of the property. The main rooms include:

1. The Library – where hidden behind a wood panelled over-mantel you will be able to view an original painting of Henry VIII’s Tudor Rose beside Katherine of Aragon’s Pomegranate from circa 1525.
2. The Oak Room – featuring wood panelling and feature stained glass window.
3. The Long Room – featuring a decorative fireplace and surround dated 1553 comprising intricate wood inlay of a scene of Shrewsbury.
4. Gardens – including a section of the original Shrewbury “Town Walls” and wonderful views of the English Bridge, Lord Hill’s Column and The Wrekin.

The tour will last around one hour and the family member will be more than happy to answer questions and give hypothesis on the history of the house.

Refreshments: I’m afraid we do not provide refreshments, but being based in the town centre we can recommend a plethora of cafes and restaurants all set in historical buildings that are just a short walk from the property.

Photography: As this is very much a private family home we do not allow photography of our internal rooms. We do allow external photography from the garden. We also allow a “close up” photograph of the Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon wall painting – but no flash photography so as to preserve the painting.
