The house contains very fine decorative plaster overmantels and original features from the period. There has been a house on the site since at least 1070 and it has been in the Luttrell family for almost 800 years. In addition to the gardens there are footpaths and permissive paths to the fascinating Jurassic coast (similar to that in Dorset but on a smaller scale), English coastal footpath and the Quantock Hills
