The original house was mentioned in the Doomsday Book and over the centuries has been expanded to what we see today. The Christies reign (the present custodians) started in 1855.
Our Italian Gardens were orchestrated by Lady Rosamond in 1881 and were designed by Sir John Belcher who set about neo-classicising both the house and gardens
