Swarthmoor Hall is a 17th century country house set in beautiful gardens. It is known as the cradle of Quakerism, as it was here in 1652 that the movement was founded during a time of great religious and political turmoil. Historic rooms in the Hall are open to view and the turbulent history of the Hall and its inhabitants is retold in throughout the house. The different areas of the garden offer beautiful places to relax and lead to our wildflower meadow. The barn café continues the Hall’s centuries old reputation for hospitality, serving delicious sweet and savoury treats and here is a small gift shop.

General Opening Times
The Historic Hall, Gardens, Café, and Shop are open from Wednesday to Saturday, between 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM. The last entry to the Hall is at 3:00 PM, and the last orders at the café are at 3:15 PM. The site is closed from Sunday to Tuesday.
Admission Prices
- Hall and Gardens: Adults £8.00, Children (17 and under) free.
- Gardens only: Adults £2.50, Children (17 and under) free.
- Gift Aid on Entry: Hall and Gardens £8.80, Gardens only £2.75.

Special Events
- March 18, 2026: Historic House re-opens for the season.
- March 28, 2026: Furness Book Fair, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Entry to the fair is free, but usual charges apply for the Historic House and Gardens.
- March 28 - April 11, 2026: Easter Trail in the Gardens, Wednesday to Saturday, 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Participation costs £1, and includes a chocolate lolly and a chance to win an Easter Egg.
- April 25, 2026: Whole site closed for a private event.
- May 10, 2026: Antiques, Vintage, Vinyl & Collectibles Fair, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Entry to the fair is free, but usual charges apply for the Historic House and Gardens.
Regular Events
- Last Thursday of each month: Meeting for Worship at 11:00 AM, available in-person and via Zoom.
- Wednesdays (term time): Baby Massage and Baby Yoga sessions.
- Thursdays (term time): Baby Sensory sessions.
- Tuesdays (April to August): Yoga in the Park at 6:00 PM, except May 26 and July 14.
- One Tuesday per month: Life Drawing sessions, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
