Swarthmoor Hall is a 17th century country house set in beautiful gardens. It is known as the cradle of Quakerism, as it was here in 1652 that the movement was founded during a time of great religious and political turmoil. Historic rooms in the Hall are open to view and the turbulent history of the Hall and its inhabitants is retold in throughout the house. The different areas of the garden offer beautiful places to relax and lead to our wildflower meadow. The barn café continues the Hall’s centuries old reputation for hospitality, serving delicious sweet and savoury treats and here is a small gift shop.
