Originally the manor house of Great Harwood, Martholme is a stone medieval house.
Martholme has a timber framed kitchen range (stone clad 1577), Elizabethan gatehouse, walled outer courtyard and dry moat.
Martholme is referred to several times in Gerards Herbal as John Gerard was a visitor to the house.
Martholme is a much loved family home and tours are given by members of the family.
In 2026 our Open Days are as follows: Every day from Friday 3rd April (Good Friday) – Monday 27th April 2026 (inclusive).
Manderston is a private house, however every year we have an allocated number of set days where we are open to the public to visit.
Booking in advance is not required. During this time the gardens will be open from 11:30am, with guided tours of the house at 1:30pm and 3:00pm.

Children under 16 (max 2): free if accompanied by an adult
Open for group bookings by appointment on non-open days throughout the year (minimum group number 6).
