The Walled Garden has a rich and diverse history and this is reflected in the site in its entirety. We have made great effort to enable wheeled access wherever possible. We have also providing seating areas throughout the Walled Garden. Visitors are encouraged to let the tour guides know if they would prefer a slower tour and we have great experience with providing a visit suitable to most needs.
We have recently overhaled the entire sun dial area to allow better wheeled access and where we cannot provide access due to the heritage and age of the area we are happy to provide a commentary.
Open Wednesday at the Walled Garden – Pop by and see how far we have come since the Walled Garden Project began over 25 years ago. Entry is from 10.30am and includes a fascinating tour of the garden and its historic service buildings.
Beyond the beauty of the Walled Garden, discover fascinating new displays in our conservation workshops, a stunning collection of pelargoniums in our busy prop houses and a newly renovated historic sundial.
Throughout the garden, signage and displays reveal stories of its horticultural and architectural heritage, while historic structures offer further glimpses into the past. Among the most recent discoveries is a fascinating peach house/cover, newly uncovered and adding another intriguing chapter to the garden’s history.
Before you leave, visit the Garden Shop to take home something fresh from the garden, from flowers, fruit and vegetables to a selection of plants. Take time to relax within the walls with a delicious hot or cold drink and something tempting to eat or include a stop at the Woodyard Brasserie for lunch option to make a day of it. (pre booking recommended -Tel: 01582-742912)
