Hylands Estate is a prestigious Grade II* listed public park encompassing 574 acres of historic parkland. The beautifully renovated Neo-Classical elegant villa Hylands House can be hired for any occasion including weddings, celebrations, and business events, and is open to the public on select days. The Stables house a café, second-hand bookshop, information point, and resident artist studios. Within the park, there are formal Victorian Gardens and ancient woodlands that are accessible as well as an award-winning accessible children’s Adventure Playground. With a list of seasonal events both within the House and the Park, Hylands Estate is the perfect place to visit and explore.

Take in your surroundings by enjoying one of our walks around the park, or by listening to our multimedia tour through the Pleasure Gardens which you can download in advance or pick up a headset from The Stables Information Point. There are geocaching routes and orienteering activities provided by local organisations. Its the perfect park for dog-walking, with our on site café The Deli providing refreshments at both ends of the park.

We are a host site for the popular family adventure site Go Ape, where you can swing through the trees in one of our woodlands. Perfect for families and group bookings – no matter what age!

Our resident artists at The Stables have regular workshops to book onto, from jewellery making to stained glass, pottery to illustration, or you can have a consultancy with an interior designer or art therapist.

Of course, you can capture all of these activities by visiting an Open Estate Day on the second Sunday of the month. Enjoy free family arts and crafts, a fabulous street food and gifts market from Essex Foodies Market, live music from Hot Box Live Events, open artist studios, and historic social history exhibitions.
