Built between 1595 and 1600 by Robert Smythson for Thomas Tailor, Registrar to the Bishop of Lincoln, Doddington Hall is now the much-loved family home of Claire and James Birch.
Never sold or cleared out since it was built, Doddington offers a rare and fascinating insight into family life across the centuries, alongside the challenges of caring for a historic estate in the 21st century.
Visitors can explore the Elizabethan Hall and six acres of gardens, as well as enjoy the award-winning Farm Shop, cafés and restaurant, Bike Shop, Home Store and Country Clothing Store.
Doddington is also a popular setting for weddings, exhibitions, outdoor theatre and seasonal events, with holiday cottages and en suite rooms available for short stays on the estate.
There is always something to discover, whether inside the Hall, in the gardens, at an event, along the estate walks, on the padel courts or out on the cycling trails.
Doddington is also looking to the future through Wilder Doddington, an ambitious 400-year nature recovery project. Created to bring more nature back to the estate, it is helping to revive ecosystems for the benefit of both people and wildlife, while creating new opportunities to connect with the natural world.
