Built in 1802, Grade II* with ornate cornicing and finely proportioned rooms, Clifton Castle boasts possibly the finest staircase of its date in the county. House contents include important portraits, furniture, silver, china from 16th-19th century. Featured in Country Life magazine, where Giles Worsley described it as “having generous proportions and the quality of materials and of detail is very high, the standard of plasterwork is almost opulent”.
