The converted mill house tells a story dating back for many hundreds of years. Close to the Saxon town of Wareham, the property forms part of the Lulworth Estate and was restored in 2009 by its current owner. The interior has been sympathetically restored to incorporate many of its original features, blended with contemporary and modern living. In the mill room on the ground floor, the mill’s leat (water channel) runs beneath a glass floor, bringing the outside into the centre of the home. The house is on two levels with a lift connecting the floors. Throughout the house are many pieces of antique and modern furniture, including works by John Makepeace and Keith Cooper, who Makepeace was apprenticed to. Fine artworks, including paintings and modern bronzes, are showcased on all floors as well as in the garden, which acts as the perfect gallery.
