Join Drumlanrig Castle for an ‘Easter Sundae’ to Remember

News from our houses Things to see and do

Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate are looking forward to an egg-cellent Easter weekend with fun planned for the whole family and, the cherry on top, the launch of a new local collaboration with Drummuir Farm Ice Cream.

From Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April, the Castle, known as the ‘Pink Palace’ and one of the finest examples of renaissance architecture in Scotland, will be open for a series of guided tours. The tours, led with friendly, knowledgeable guides, take visitors on a journey through the history of the Castle, discovering tales of past residents and exploring the world-class art collection, including Rembrandt’s ‘Old Woman Reading’.

The Castle Gardens and Adventure Playground are also open to the public daily, with a special Easter Sunday Funday planned for 31st March, 11am-4pm. Look out for Easter trails and competitions, fun crafts, a large inflatable slide, and trampolines. Don’t forget to bring along your best Easter bonnet for your chance to win! Scottish Assault Courses will also be there with bubble football, axe throwing, a mini gun range and a mini assault course, offering something for all ages.

For those looking for an Easter treat, the Castle Gift Shop and both the Castle Tearoom and Larchwood Cabin Café will be open with lunches and refreshments available. And this year, Drumlanrig have become the first venue to stock new individual ice cream tubs from Drummuir Farm Ice Cream– the perfect Easter indulgence!

This year the Gardens and Adventure Playground are open even longer between 9.30am to 4.30pm daily until the end of October. To help visitors to make the most of the extended opening dates, a new Annual Pass has been launched giving unlimited access to the gardens and adventure playground from 1st March to the end of October for a one-off payment. Pass holders will also benefit from a whole host of offers, including 10% off in the Larchwood Cabin and Castle Tearoom, 10% off in the gift shop and 10% off events run by the Estate.
