Whitmore Hall – A Timeless English Manor House
Nestled in the picturesque countryside of North Staffordshire, Whitmore Hall stands as a testament to England’s rich architectural and historical heritage. This Grade I listed manor house has been home to the Cavenagh-Mainwaring family for over 900 years, making it one of the few estates in the country to remain in the same lineage since the Domesday Book of 1086. It is the heart of the Whitmore Estate.
The surrounding parkland and lakes, believed to have been influenced by Capability Brown, add to the Hall’s tranquil charm. During the summer, guests may also have the opportunity to explore Holbrook’s Wood, which borders the estate.
Whitmore village, and nearby Acton Village, boast some lovely walks and is a great place to get out to and shake those cobwebs off! A five minute walk from Whitmore Hall and next to the village’s Anglo-Saxon church, you will find the Mainwaring Arms pub and Whitmore Tearoom. They offer great English hospitality to the whole family and delicious food all day.
Whether visiting for its history, its peaceful surroundings, or its connection to generations of English heritage, Whitmore Hall remains a quintessentially English manor house – a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by you.
The Whitmore Estate also hosts Whitmore Lakes retreats where day guests can enjoy wellness experiences such as wild swimming and yoga at both the Lakes and Whitmore Hall.
