Experience the magical world of this unique house & gardens. Dubbed ‘Britain’s Most Extraordinary Home’ by The Times, it took the UK’s most ordinary house and transformed it into thirteen locations each set in a different time and place. Now celebrating its tenth anniversary with the release of a book charting the fantastical 25-year journey, Talliston invites you to explore its amazing interiors.
Each room or garden has a rich story, its own smells and sounds and incorporates thousands of objects from 27 different countries – all combining to create a truly magical whole. If you’ve fallen in love with a Grimm’s fairy tale, delighted over Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland or dreamed of flying with Peter Pan to Neverland, you’ve arrived at the right doorway.
Enjoy full guided tour of the house and gardens by a member of the creative team, room by room, mapping out the labyrinth of the property and exploring each of the locations. The tour starts before you get to the house in order to explain the history of the area.

Getting here
Great Dunmow, Essex
From the M11, take the A120 and turn off at the Great Dunmow exit (watch for Ancient Flitch Town brown tourist signs). Go over three small roundabouts and at the fourth, turn left into Dunmow. Almost straight away, you will see the Queen Victoria pub on your right where the tours begin. We will send a parking plan a week before the event.
For the Invitation to View events, we will be starting your tour outside The Queen Victoria, a public house 1 minute’s walk from the house (The Queen Victoria, 79 Stortford Road, Dunmow, Essex CM6 1DL). This aids parking and allows for people to gather if wet.
