Raveningham Hall is the Grade II* listed home of Sir Nicholas Bacon Bt OBE DL and his family. The Bacons have been at Raveningham since 1735, today the site comprises 10 acres of gardens and a 5,500 acre rural estate.
Raveningham Gardens, like many others is the work of one person – Sir Nicholas’s mother, Priscilla Bacon. She lived here for 50 years and in that time greatly enlarged the garden, creating magnificent herbaceous borders.
Sir Nicholas and Lady Bacon have since created a lake to celebrate the millennium, an arboretum and a stumpery. The superb walled kitchen garden with a restored Boulton and Paul glasshouse, supplies fruit and vegetables for the Hall as it did in its Victorian heyday.
There is also a Time Garden based on Sir Francis Bacon’s ‘Essay of Gardens’, a rose garden and a herb garden. Sculptures by Lady Bacon are placed in and around the garden.
Throughout the year the parkland setting provides a glorious backdrop to the Hall and the main garden. We also have a newly refurbished tea room offering light refreshments.
