At Pashley you will discover 11 acres of beautiful borders and vistas – the culmination of a lifetime of passion for gardening and an admiration of the tradition of the English Country garden. These award winning gardens are family owned and maintained – visitors often express delight at the attention to detail displayed throughout and the intimate, peaceful atmosphere.
All the ingredients of the English Country Garden are present – sweeping herbaceous borders, ha ha, lawns, box hedges, historic walled garden, inspiring kitchen garden, wildlife, venerable trees and the Grade I listed house as a backdrop. Then, of course, the plants! Borders overflowing with perennials and annuals – the look changing through the seasons, but always abundantly filled, and each garden ‘room’ planted in a different colour theme.
Pashley is also renowned for fantastic displays of tulips, roses and dahlias. The annual Tulip Festival features 48,000 tulips.
Add to all this a Café and Terrace with excellent garden views serving delicious homemade lunches, scones and cakes; Sculpture and Art Exhibitions; a Gift Shop with Plant Sales; group rates / free coach parking / coach driver incentives and a friendly, knowledgeable team waiting to welcome you, and the recipe for a wonderful day out is complete.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays*, Saturdays, Bank Holiday Mondays and Special Event days
Gardens open from 10am to 5pm (last entry at 4pm); Café (with large outside seating area) open from 10am to last orders at 4.30pm; Gift Shop open from 10.00am to 5pm.
Historic Houses members visit for free, except during the Tulip Festival (20th April every day to 4th May 2022).

We welcome group booking for groups of over 15 people.

The main visitor entrance is at ///magpie.heightens.reckons What does this mean?
On the border or East Sussex and Kent, on the B2099 between the A21 and Ticehurst Village (tourist brown signposted).
Train from London, on the London to Hastings line, takes an hour and runs once or twice an hour – after this a taxi would need to be booked from the local station.
Etchingham and Wadhurst are the nearest train stations to Pashley – they are both about 5 miles away.

Despite losing over 1000 trees in the 1987 hurricane, with help, enthusiasm and encouragement from the eminent landscape architect and author, the late Anthony du Gard Pasley, an old friend of the Sellicks’, and our loyal team, currently led by Head Gardener Keith Boylett, a garden with great potential was uncovered and has become one of the handsomest landscapes in Sussex.
