Opening Dates and Times
- Winter Closure: Mirehouse & Gardens is currently closed for winter.
- 2026 Season: Re-opens on 1st April 2026.
- Grounds, Playgrounds, and Lakeside Walk: Open daily from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- The House: Open on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons (and also on Sundays in August) from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, with last entries at 4:00 pm.
Admission Prices
- Gardens: Adults £7, Children £2, Children under 4 years old free.
- House and Gardens: Adults £12, Children £4, Family (2 adults and up to 3 children) £29, Children under 4 years old free.
Facilities and Accessibility
- Tickets: Tickets must be purchased at The Old Sawmill Tearoom in Dodd Wood car park. No advance booking is required.
- Parking and Toilets: Available at Dodd Wood Pay on Exit car park, located across the road from the entrance.

Mirehouse offers a wide range of facilities and educational opportunities. The house has been occupied as a family home since it was built in 1666. It is set in a varied landscape of fell side, forest, gardens and lakeshore. There are four sheltered woodland adventure playgrounds.
We have worked with teachers since 1981 and our experienced guides enjoy welcoming children and encourage participation. Many schools bring groups regularly.
Where teachers have the time, free preparatory visits are welcome. We are always pleased to discuss your visit on the telephone and to adapt the timing and/or content of the house tour to ensure you have the best value from your visit.

Mirehouse is 3 miles north of Keswick on the A591. Parking and toilets are in Dodd Wood car park across the road from our main gate.
