The garden at Milton Lodge was conceived about 1900 by Mr Charles Tudway, the present owner’s great grandfather.
During the first ten years of the 20th Century the sloping ground was transformed into the existing series of architectural terraces, specifically to capitalise on the glorious views of the Cathedral and the Vale of Avalon.

Milton Lodge Gardens Opening Times
Regular Opening Hours
Milton Lodge Gardens (Terraced Gardens) is open from Good Friday until the end of September. Visiting hours are 2pm to 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays.
The Combe (Arboretum and Woodland Garden) is open every day from Easter until the end of October.
Special Charity Open Days
Milton Lodge Gardens participates in the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) with special charity open days:
- Sunday 31st May 2026 – 2pm to 5pm
- Sunday 28th June 2026 – 2pm to 5pm

Groups, clubs and parties are most welcome by prior arrangement. Guided tours can be provided. Evening visits welcome. Refreshments and teas available for groups, also by special arrangement in advance.
