The Medieval house is unsuitable for the mobility-challenged as it has steep steps and stairs as well as uneven floors. There is no lift and no rails.
We are the proud owners of two large friendly St Bernards and are thus unable to accept bookings from those with allergies or canine aversions. The dogs are fond of humans but not of canine guests.
The master bedroom of the Manor is Laline’s Bedroom with antique furniture and four-poster bed. Ancient oak beams and pillars are complemented by modern touches including the en-suite bathroom (bath only), large flat-screen TV and wood burner. Views are over the lawns to the Chiltern Hills in the distance and into the courtyard to the front.
Overlooking the walled maze garden and the lawns are the Lady de L’Isle Rooms with exposed beams and feature chandelier. This is a double with adjoining dressing-room which has twin beds for the use of guests’ family if required. There is a separate private bathroom with bath and shower.
The Yellow Bedroom is so called for the yellow panelling along one wall. It is furnished in a French style and overlooks the apple orchard where geese can often be spied. There is an en-suite dressing-room with adjoining shower room.
The oak-panelled fifteenth century Drawing Room is available for guests to relax in, read or just enjoy a log fire on a cold Winter’s night. Wireless internet access is available throughout the house. Guests may enjoy the garden with its view over the Thame Valley to the Chiltern Hills beyond, the maze and lawns with ancient yew hedges and mulberry tree. There is a croquet lawn and a tennis court. The old Stables have been converted to a thriving Bakery, Farm Shop and Café.
Breakfast is served in the beamed fourteenth century Dining Room. Freshly made to order with home-made and local produce.
