Godinton is a comfortable, much-loved home; each room has a different feel, a contrast on a theme, not designed by architect or curator but for the taste and enjoyment of those who lived here over the centuries and now for visitors.
Tours of the house are led by expert guides unravelling the 600 years of history and revealing an excellent country house collection of furniture, art, porcelain and curios.
Enjoy delicious homemade cakes and refreshments in the old Billiard Room.
The famous yew hedge surrounds the formal gardens with the wild, Italian and walled gardens beyond, full of colour and interest through the seasons.
A working estate with lovely walks, close to the picturesque village of Great Chart.
Events are run throughout the year to be enjoyed by all.

Godinton House and Gardens is a historic estate located in Kent, England, featuring a 14th-century house and 12 acres of formal gardens. The estate is currently closed for the 2025 season and will reopen in 2026 with the following schedule:
Opening Times for 2026
- Gardens: Open from Tuesday, 17th March 2026 to Sunday, 18th October 2026, on Tuesdays to Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, from 12:30pm to 5:30pm (last entry at 4:30pm).
- House: Open from Friday, 3rd April 2026 to Saturday, 26th September 2026, on Fridays and Saturdays. Entry is by guided tour only, with tours starting at 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:00pm, and 3:30pm.
- Tearoom: Open from Friday, 3rd April 2026 to Saturday, 26th September 2026, on Fridays and Saturdays, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm (last entry at 4:45pm).
Special Events in 2026
- Classical Concerts: Held in the Great Hall on Sunday, 1st February 2026 and Sunday, 1st March 2026.
- National Garden Scheme Open Days: Scheduled for Saturday, 18th April 2026, Saturday, 30th May 2026, Friday, 19th June 2026, and Friday, 18th September 2026. Proceeds go to charity.
- Spring Fair: Takes place on Saturday, 16th May 2026.
- Delphinium Festival: Runs from Saturday, 13th June 2026 to Sunday, 28th June 2026.
- Open Air Theatre: Performances on Saturday, 11th July 2026, Saturday, 25th July 2026, and Saturday, 8th August 2026.

Historic Houses members visit free on normal open days. Book online and select a free Historic Houses member ticket. Book an exclusive group visit to the house Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 3:30pm. All tours of the house are guided by our very enthusiastic and informative guides, a tour takes approximately one hour.

Situated on the outskirts of Ashford, 2 minutes from A20. Good access from M20 (J9), high speed rail London to Ashford 40 mins
Take the train to Ashford International station, taxi rank outside. Bus, Ashford to Maidstone 10X service and then approx. 20 minute walk along country lane.
