At Delapré Abbey, we’ve worked hard to create a visitor experience that we can all enjoy together.
We’ve taken care to think about how to design and adapt our historic spaces by providing wheelchair accessible lifts and ramps, accessible toilets, and audio induction loops.
We have wheelchairs available for visitors to borrow on site and our staff and volunteers can also help by pointing out any tight spaces or uneven floor coverings.
We also provide large print guides in each of our rooms.

The House is open for general admission on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, 11am-4pm (last entry 3pm).

Within the heart of Northampton, you and your group can explore the beautiful landscape of our Abbey and its gardens – whilst delving into 900 years of history.
The Abbey has an intriguing past for you to discover – from its origins as a Cluniac nunnery, to becoming a country house following Henry Vlll’s dissolution of the Monasteries, and its time as the County Record Office before the recent restoration. It has witnesses key historic events including the 1460 Battle of Northampton, and as a resting place for Queen Eleanor’s funeral cortege.

For over 900 years the site of Delapré Abbey has occupied an important place in the local, regional and national story.
Full or half day experiences are available and sessions can be tailored to meet your learning objectives and individual class requirements. Delapré Abbey is located within the 550 acre landscape of Delapré Park, in the county of Northamptonshire in the East Midlands. If you require help with travelling to Delapré Abbey, please call us on 01604 760817.
Only a six minute drive from Junction 15 of the M1, Delapré Abbey is easily accessible whether you’re travelling from the North or South.
From J15 simply follow the A45 north towards the town centre and you’ll find Delapré Abbey located just off the A45 on London Road (A508).
From central Northampton, take the A508 southbound towards the M1 junction 15. The Abbey is on a turning to your left/east about 1 mile from the town centre.
Please be aware that the drive leading to Delapré Abbey is a single lane only, with several passing places. Parking is not permitted anywhere on the driveway.
Free car parking is available for visitors (as well as over-flow capacity for large events) with priority disabled parking for blue badge holders.
