Enjoy endless hours of outdoor fun at Hide & Secrets Adventure Play. Fun-packed woodland play zones lead to the huge Hidden Towers play structure with multi-level play including two enormous slides, climbing walls, wobbly walkways, tunnels and lookout nests.

House
The House is currently closed for essential upkeep and conservation. It will reopen for the 2026 season on 14 March 2026.
Gardens
The Gardens, including the Garden of Surprises and the Sculpture Garden, are closed for the winter season. They will reopen on 14 February 2026.
Adventure Play (Hide & Secrets)
The Adventure Play area is closed for the winter season and will reopen on 14 February 2026.
Parkland
The Parkland is open daily from 7am to dusk throughout the year.
Orangery Restaurant
The Orangery Restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. It will be closed for the winter from 22 December 2025 to 6 January 2026.
Garden Café

Free admission for Historic Houses members to Burghley House, Gardens and Adventure Play. Historic Houses tickets are available on arrival only and cannot be booked online. A valid Historic Houses membership card must be presented, otherwise full admission will be charged.
Historic Houses membership is not valid for free entry to the Easter Egg Treasure Hunt.
With its dramatic skyline and towering obelisk clock tower, Burghley was built to impress and the State Rooms are simply awe-inspiring. Discover the enormous collection of historic paintings, ceramics and works of art, many of which still stand where they were first recorded in 1688.
This amazing treasure house remains a much loved family home and we welcome groups to come and discover its fascinating history on one of our guided or self-guided tours.
Educational opportunities dealing with historical, artistic, performance, literacy, mathematical and scientific themes are available all year round.
Visits can be self-led using free, supporting materials or guided by our experienced house staff and education officer, who delivers many themes in period costume.
Schools are encouraged to make their visit in period-style costume if appropriate.

Burghley is 1 mile from Stamford and 20 minutes north of Peterborough on the A1.
Burghley’s nearest station is Stamford, approximately 1 mile from the entrance. This is either a pleasant 30 minute walk taking you through the park or a short taxi ride.
There is also an hourly bus service run by Delaine which serves the outlying villages and links Peterborough to Stamford.
