Small listed Georgian mansion, built in 1726. The property is arranged over four floors and is home to a life-size portrait of the Darley Arabian horse which was brought to this country in 1703.
The site, which has been in the Darley family since 1557, sits in a bend of the River Derwent. It was once used as a castle for Edwin, King of Northumbria and the earth mound remains in the garden can be seen and explored.
Tour includes ground, first and second floor of house. Visitors are welcome to explore the garden, church and hydro at their leisure.

ACCESS NOTES
No wheelchair access to the house. The entrance hall is up a flight of 10 steps. There are limited gravel paths. Most of the garden access is across grass. Disabled cloakroom in basement
