It’s a Haunted Halloween at Traquair

News from our houses

There is host of haunting going on at Traquair this Halloween for all ages. From the annual Family Fun Day to the very popular Historical Ghost tours for those brave enough to visit this ancient castle at night.

Halloween activities start on Sunday 25th October with the Halloween Fun Day which has a packed programme of activities from Magic Shows, a Creepy Crawly Handling Experience, a Witches and Wizards Workshop, Ghost Stories, Tarot Readings, Face Painting (additional cash-only charge), traditional Halloween Games and the unique Spooky Passage Experience!

You are encouraged to dress to kill and enter our competition for children and adults – the more imaginative and home-made costumes the better.

This great family day out also includes a spooky scavenger hunt and some surprises lurking in the Maze so you can explore the ancient woodlands and run off some energy!

The following weekend on Friday 30th and on Halloween night (31st)  the Historical Ghost Tours take place in the House with characters from Traquair’s past coming back to life to tell their stories.

From Jacobite adventures, to the terror of hiding a priest in difficult times, the tales unfold and as you are drawn into this extraordinary 900-year castle. You will experience Traquair as never before.

Expect the unexpected and soak up the atmosphere as the wind whistles through the ancient walls. Not for the faint hearted!

Numbers are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. You can also book a Halloween supper in the Garden Café to complete your night out.
