New Summer Garden Pass Launches as “The English Versailles” Opens Its Doors This May

News from our houses Things to see and do

This May, Boughton House, celebrated as the “English Versailles”, welcomes visitors not only for a rare chance to explore its magnificent interiors, but also to enjoy a brand-new Summer Garden Pass designed to make the most of its spectacular grounds throughout the season. Launching alongside the house’s May opening dates from 2-4 May and 23-25 May, the pass invites guests to return again and again to experience the changing beauty of the gardens, landscape, and parkland at no additional cost.

The Summer Garden Pass offers exceptional value and flexibility, allowing visitors to revisit Boughton’s extensive outdoor spaces during the May Bank Holidays and additional open dates in August. Guests can simply purchase a Garden Ticket and upgrade free on their first visit, unlocking unlimited return access across the season. From peaceful walks to the tranquil Star Pond to leisurely strolls around the Lily Pond with coffee in hand, the pass encourages visitors to experience Boughton in new ways each time. The gardens also play host to wildlife spotting, pop-up exhibitions, and relaxed moments in the newly refreshed Gift Shop and Stableyard Tearoom, now open extended hours from 11am to 5pm.

Alongside the garden experience, visitors can step inside the House itself through three distinct tour options, each offering a unique perspective on over 500 years of history. The Great Hall Experience provides a free-flow journey through Boughton’s remarkable collections, supported by expert guides who bring its stories vividly to life. The State Rooms Tour allows guests to follow in the footsteps of William III, exploring the grand apartments created for his visit in 1695 and admiring the restored ceilings painted by Louis Chéron. For those seeking a deeper, behind-the-scenes look, the “Books, Beds, and Beyond” tour reveals hidden areas including the library, bedrooms, kitchens, and backstairs.

Enhancing the cultural programme, Boughton House will once again host the Northants & Rutland Open Studios Pop-Up Studios during the May opening dates. Featuring artists P N Clin, Kathryn Brown, Jamie Poole, Zoe Laughton, and Claire Michelle Cooper, the exhibition will be displayed within the Tearoom and Coach House, offering visitors the opportunity to discover and purchase original works in a distinctive historic setting.

With its blend of heritage, art, and a renewed focus on outdoor enjoyment through the Summer Garden Pass, Boughton House promises an enriching and memorable experience this spring and summer. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and take full advantage of this new way to explore one of England’s most extraordinary country estates.

Pre-booking strongly recommended at bougthonhouse.co.uk or follow Boughton House and Estate on Facebook, or @Boughton_house_official on Instagram.
