Membership benefits & maintenance

What are the benefits of being a Corporate Member?

Corporate membership is a great way for businesses and individuals who supply goods and services to the owners of historic properties to let potential customers and clients know about relevant products and services.

Membership benefits include:

  • A supplier profile in our searchable online directory including your company logo, company description, contact information, and images.
  • A supplier profile in our printed Supplier Directory, part of our Yearbook published each autumn. Your profile includes your company logo, a brief company description, and contact information.
  • Access to post time-sensitive offers to our House Members through our online Opportunities Board.
  • Subscription to our quarterly magazine Historic House and our annual Yearbook.
  • Access to our National AGM and, subject to availability, regional and national House Member events.
  • Discounts on advertising space in Historic House magazine.
  • Discounts on stall hire at our annual Historic Buildings, Parks and Gardens Event in London.
  • A supplier profile on Work In A Castle.

How do I update my membership details?

If you need to update the company name, address or email addresses, email us on [email protected]

When does my membership renew?

Corporate membership runs from 1 April – 31 March each year. We will be in touch in February each year to let you know that your membership is up for renewal.

How do I request a VAT invoice or receipt?

Please email [email protected] if you require a VAT invoice or receipt.

Promoting your membership

How do I promote my affiliation with Historic Houses?

Corporate membership does not constitute endorsement or accreditation by Historic Houses. As an association of member places we strive to maintain our independent status and therefore do not have ‘official’ or ‘recommended’ suppliers. For this reason, we ask that if you wish to make reference to your affiliation with us that you simply state that you are a “Corporate member of Historic Houses”.

Can I use your logo to promote our affiliation?

The use of our logo is strictly forbidden as it can be interpreted as an endorsement or accreditation. Corporate members are not allowed to use our logo on their websites or on any other materials.

Can you tell me how many times my listing has been clicked on?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide click information related to your online supplier profile such as page views, unique visitors or other digital metrics.

Can you promote my company in an email or on social media?

Sadly, we are not able to offer direct marketing to our member places through promotional emails or posts on our social media channels.

Purchasing membership cards

How do I purchase membership cards to visit a property?

Membership cards are not included in Corporate membership. If you  would like to  purchase a membership card, you can buy one using the Join button on the Historic Houses website*. Please note that membership cards are non-transferable and need to be in the name of the person who will be using them.

For more information about membership cards see our general membership FAQs.

*If you are logged in to your Corporate membership account, please log out to view the Join button.

Events

Can I come to events?

Our regional and national events programme is primarily designed to support our House Members. Where capacity allows, however, corporate members are invited to these events.

All corporate members are welcome to attend our National AGM, held each November in London. Corporate members can also get a discount on stall hire at the Historic Buildings, Parks and Gardens Event that runs alongside the AGM ensuring our members have a place to come and network with your team.

Can I leave leaflets at events?

Corporate members are prohibited from handing out flyers or leaflets.

Each Historic Houses event will have its own sponsors. These sponsorship agreements give sponsors exclusive promotional rights at the event, including for leaflets and other materials. For this reason, we are unable to permit corporate members to distribute other materials at our events.

Can I speak at an event?

Our events programme is shaped by the needs and interests of our House Members, with each event curated around specific themes and topics that reflect those priorities. While we do occasionally invite corporate members to speak, corporate membership does not include or guarantee a speaking opportunity. When a suitable opportunity arises, we typically identify potential speakers through the Supplier Directory. We therefore encourage corporate members to keep their supplier profiles up to date, with a clear outline of their areas of expertise, so that we can consider them for relevant future events.

Can I attend a Regional AGM?

Regional AGMs are primarily for House Members.  As there is often limited capacity, Regional AGM tickets are usually available first to House Members. Corporate Members may be able to attend their region’s AGM, subject to availability. If there are spaces, you will be contacted in advance of the event to book your spot.

Sponsorship

How do I become a sponsor?

Every sponsorship package is negotiated on a bespoke basis to suit the sponsor’s needs and strengths. Elements commonly associated with sponsorship include:

  • Exclusivity within an industry sector.
  • Logo presence on publications and physical presence at events.
  • Speaking slots at our national and regional AGMs.
  • First-line advice services for our House Members.
  • Contributions of articles and guidance notes to our magazine and website.

You can find our more about sponsorship on our Sponsor Us page.
