Our answers to the most common questions regarding our app.
What is the main purpose of the app?
The purpose of the Historic Houses app is to allow members to display their membership details by accessing their ‘digital card’. Members will be able to visit attractions which offer free admission to Historic Houses members by showing their digital card. This does not replace physical membership cards, and we advise members to carry their physical cards with them at all times, as some attractions may not accept digital cards.
Can I find details on houses near me to visit, and other information about houses?
Yes, we have now added this information as a key feature to the app. You can now browse, either in list view or map view, houses and gardens that are available to visit. By enabling the app to access your device’s location settings, you can see a list of attractions ordered in which are closest to you. You can also click on any attraction and be taken to its page on the Historic Houses website for more information.
How can I log in to the app?
To be able to log into the app, you first need to have registered an account on our website. You can do that here. If you are attempting to register an account but are told you already have an account registered under your email address, please click the ‘forgotten password’ button when attempting to log in to reset your password, and then log in with your email address and new password.
You need to enter the email address and password used for your online account to log into the app. The log-in details for the app are exactly the same as the log-in details for the website. If you can’t remember your password, click the ‘forgotten password’ button when attempting to log in to reset this.
Why is my digital card showing as expired?
If you cannot access your digital membership card because your membership has expired, you will need to renew your membership. You can do this by logging in to your account and renewing online. Or, you can renew over the phone by ringing our membership department at 01462 896688.

We have a double membership. Can we show our two digital cards using the same device?
No, only one registered user can be logged into the app at any one time, meaning only one digital card can be used for each individual on a single device.
If you bought a double membership, each individual will need to download the app on separate devices and log into the app separately, using their different email addresses and passwords. Please ensure, if you both wish to use your digital cards, that both individuals have registered separately on the website here, using different barcode numbers and email addresses.
