Stansted Park to welcome Essie Fox to discuss her latest novel ‘Dangerous’

News from our houses

On Tuesday 30 September, step inside Stansted House as the sun begins to set and take a seat inside the beautiful Music Room for an evening with Essie Fox, who will be discussing her latest historical novel Dangerous.

Living in exile, the disgraced Lord Byron revels in the freedoms of the city. But when he is associated with the deaths of local women, found with wounds to their throats, and then a novel called The Vampyre is published under his name, rumours begin to spread that Byron may be the murderer…

‘The Byronic soul in all its beauty and madness’- Victoria Dowd

‘Exquisitely conjured… unputdownable gothic mystery’- Gill Paul

‘Splendidly gothic and impressively researched. The brooding presence of Byron comes alive!’ Andrew Taylor

Rich in gothic atmosphere and drawing on real events and characters from Byron’s life, Dangerous is a riveting, dazzling historical thriller, as decadent, dark and seductive as the poet himself…

Essie Fox will be joined in conversation with author Vanessa Curtis.

Throughout the evening, there will be the opportunity to ask Essie questions and to enjoy readings from the novel. You will also be able to see the Earl of Bessborough’s copies of Byron’s works and Lady Caroline Lamb’s novel Glenarvon.

Copies of Dangerous will also be available to purchase on the night.

Tickets cost £25 per person and include a glass of wine on arrival.
