Bowhill House Tours Are Back, and Better!

Things to see and do
Bowhill House

Bowhill House in Selkirk looks forward to welcoming visitors back on selected dates in late July and August after missing the visitor season completely in 2020.

‘Exclusive House Tours’ will be available from Friday 30th July to the end of August on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  Exclusive House Tours are for small family/friend groups of up to 6 people from max 3 households.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the fascinating history and art of Bowhill, it’s the perfect opportunity.  Led by passionate experts, the tours offer the chance to discover the rich history of Bowhill House and delve deeper into the Victorian Era at Bowhill in the Exhibition.  The House is home to part of the internationally renowned Buccleuch Art Collection – seeing it is an opportunity not to be missed.

Rory Powell, House Manager explains:

“Our House Guides cannot wait to welcome visitors back and to take them on a new ‘Exclusive House Tour. Our regular tours accommodated up to 15 people from anywhere, however this is not possible with current government guidelines and we wanted to ensure visitors received the excellent experience they expect at Bowhill.  Our Exclusive Tours will do just that.  They are for small family/friend groups of up to 6, so are essentially a private tour of the House with an experienced guide.”

“We hope these Exclusive Tours will prove to be popular, but with a limited number available we would urge people to book now on our website.”

Tours will be available from Friday 30th July to the end of August on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.  The Tour costs £36 which includes up to 3 people.  An additional 3 visitors can be booked for £12pp.  Booking is essential and open now on the Bowhill House website www.bowhillhouse.co.uk.  The Tour itself will last approximately 1 hour.  Visitors will then have an additional 15 minutes to explore the Love and Respect in the Victorian Age Exhibition.

Light refreshments will be available to take away from the Old Kitchen Café, located at the end of the Tour.

Exclusive House Tour visitors can also enjoy the Front Gardens, with stunning views across the Valleys, which are usually private.

Visitors can also enjoy the wider waymarked walks.
