Policy Round-up: April 2020
In a month that would usually see thousands of visitors, endless Easter egg hunts and ever-popular bluebell walks across the nation, our members have been forced to close their doors entirely in the wake of Covid-19. In the policy team we’ve been working hard on behalf of our member houses and gardens to deliver advice, support and vital lobbying clout to support independent heritage in the face of unprecedented challenges to its survival. As we move into the next phase of lockdown in some parts of the UK we are continuing to call on government to deliver vital support for our member places, and working with members and sector colleagues to find a safe and sustainable path towardsrecovery.
You can read a blog post Emma has written for Historic England here, which gives a summary of the key issues we’ve been facing, and what we’re focusing on for the weeks ahead.
