Glemham Hall is recognised as an ‘extra mile’ wedding venue
Popular wedding venue Glemham Hall located in just near Woodbridge in Suffolk has been recognised as going the ‘extra mile’ for their couples during Covid-19. The local business has been given this status during a nationwide goodwill campaign which launched this week to celebrate wedding venues from across the UK.
The Elizabethan country house dates back to 1560 and set in 3000 acres is owned by the Hope-Cobbold family, known for their long-standing association as founders of Ipswich Town football club and the Tolly Cobbold Brewery.
The venue has had to manage countless postponements during the pandemic, all whilst furloughing 70% of their staff at the same time as dealing with the extreme overheads as before.
Olivia Riddiford from Host Venue Consultancy who founded the campaign says: “The wedding industry has been hard hit during Covid-19. Wedding venues especially have been faced with challenging times from furloughing staff, continuing to finance high overheads and most importantly dealing with their 2020 couples in a sensitive and thoughtful manner.
So many venues have really showed such kindness at a time where couples have been forced to postpone their dream wedding. It was important to create a campaign to celebrate these venues, to get their story heard. Glemham Hall has gone above and beyond for their clients by offering postponement & even back-up dates, they’ve maintained their clients excitement for their wedding with thoughtful and considerate posts on social media and delivered beautiful personalised cards on days when couples should have been holding their wedding. We’re delighted to have given the #extramilevenue title to such a worthy business”.
