COVID-19: Update from Muncaster Castle
Following recent advice from UK Government, Muncaster’s opening arrangements are as follows until further notice;
- The extensive Gardens with superb views are open for visitors to enjoy from 10.30am to 5pm daily. Come and “wander lonely as a cloud” with friends and family; you should be able to avoid congregating with others if you wish. A reasonable fee or donation will be requested to help us continue to look after Muncaster and our staff; this may simply be via an honesty box at each entrance. Your visit and support in these difficult times will be much appreciated.
- Toilets will be open at each entrance and in the Stable Yard and we request all guests to use them to wash their hands on arrival and departure and before & after using the playground.
The Gardens are very beautiful in springtime and we would love to encourage visitors to wander through this amazing landscape and hopefully gain some respite and solace from the current world situation. All other facilities including the Castle, Hawk & Owl Centre, café and shops are closed until further notice. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic.
We aim to keep the Pennington Hotel, restaurant and Inn at Ravenglass open for anyone wanting refreshment or overnight accommodation and our holiday houses are still available to let.
We aim to have Reception open as much as possible during normal office hours Monday to Friday although some staff need to be working at home due to the current emergency situation. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information or try calling 01229 717614 during office hours. We will respond to emails as quickly as we can even if we are unable to answer the telephone on occasion.
Like everyone we hope to return to normal as soon as possible but support current advice to keep folk healthy and safe.
Thank you for your understanding.
