COVID-19: Update from Chatsworth House

A message from our Chief Executive

As I write this email, we face unprecedented and challenging times due to the coronavirus pandemic. These challenges affect all areas of society, with the situation changing daily, meaning that individuals and organisations are having to regularly react and adapt their plans in order to help limit the spread of the virus. Chatsworth is no exception, and we have had to take some difficult decisions in order to protect the health and wellbeing of our visitors and staff.
 
I am pleased to confirm that the garden will open as planned on 21 March, and we ask visitors to book online in order to minimise the handling of cash and cards. As it is such a large outdoor space, visitors will still be able to enjoy it, whilst practising social distancing. The same is true in the park and woodland around Chatsworth. We have suspended car parking charges at Chatsworth and Calton Lees.
 
We have however decided not to open the house or farmyard & adventure playground. As these are more confined spaces, we believe this is the most responsible decision at this time.
 
The estate farm shop in Pilsley will be open as normal, and we will open a limited number of our catering outlets. Full details can be found by clicking on the link below.
 
I would like to reassure you that these decisions have been taken in the best interest of all of our visitors and staff. Chatsworth thrives due to the generosity of our visitors, and we want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the estate in as safe a way as possible. We will be posting updates as soon as we have them on our website and social media, so please look out for these.
