Alnwick Castle re-opens until October
Alnwick Castle is now open daily until 25 October 2020, 10.00am to 5.00pm.
The Inner Bailey, Outer Bailey and the Bowburn Picnic Area outside the Castle walls are open along with The Castle Museum. Mobile catering units are available in The Courtyard and there are temporary WC facilities (including disabled) near the entrance, which is via The Alnwick Garden as all other Castle entrances remain closed – the postcode NE66 1HB will bring you to the correct entrance.
Historic Houses Members are entitled to a free grounds ticket giving access to all of the above areas but for the safety of our visitors we are offering strictly limited numbers with staggered entry times. If you are an Historic Houses member, you still receive free entry but will still need to book a timeslot ahead of your visit. Please use our live chat service on www.alnwickcastle.com or give us a call on 01665 511 100 and we will be happy to arrange this for you. Please have your membership card to hand.
The State Rooms are open for a limited number of guided tours in small groups every day and tickets for these are available to purchase on site at a cost of £12 per person. Please note that these are not free to Historic Houses members and Historic Houses members wishing to take a tour of the State Rooms will need to buy a ticket once they arrive on site. We are very sorry that, due to ongoing renovation works, the lift to the upper floors of the State Rooms is currently unavailable and all visitors will need to be able to climb stairs unaided.
Broomstick Flying Lessons are also available at a cost of £12 per person with tickets available on site, and there is Have-a-Go Archery on a pay-and-play basis at £5 per session, both available subject to weather conditions. Historic Houses members will also need to buy tickets for these activities if they wish to take part.
In order to maintain social distancing and for the safety of all on site, the Courtyard Café, Courtyard WCs, Fryery Chip Shop, Castle Shop, Artisans’ Courtyard, the Dungeon, the Ramparts Walk and The Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland will remain closed.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Alnwick Castle!
