Thirlestane Castle will be going blue for our NHS
Thirlestane Castle, in Lauder, on the Scottish Borders, will tonight be lighting up blue to celebrate our NHS and key workers. While the public can look forward to seeing the lights (from a distance), Thirlestane has also been getting involved in some other supportive activities, including the Treat Our NHS campaign.
A word from Thirlestane Castle about the #TreatourNHS campaign
"We took part in the #treatournhs campaign started by the wonderful @hayloftdevon. It is an initiative to thank our wonderful NHS and key workers by giving away a few nights for free when this is all over. People are asked to tag their NHS hero in our posts on Instagram then, at random, pick a winner. It has grown arms and legs and masses of properties are taking part all over the country from b&bs to historic houses.
It was a very overwhelming thing to be a part of - we had hundreds of entries and people sending us the most moving of stories about their NHS hero and why they deserved to win - actually, they all deserved to win - but we could only pick one winner and have two paramedics coming to stay later this year. Some local businnesses came on board and we have a florist doing a welcome bunch of flowers for them and a local pub has offered them dinner on one night of their stay - amazing!
More and more people are getting involved every day and it is still very much an active campaign. See our instagram feed for more info."
