Overview

The Grange Estate, situated 15 minutes east of Winchester and 60 minutes south of London, is a landed and sporting estate of approximately four thousand acres in central Hampshire in the beautiful Upper Itchen and Candover valleys.

The historic core of the Estate is Grange Park, a 600 acre landscaped park which contains The Grange, an important Grade I listed neo-classical country house.

The house is no longer occupied but provides an ideal venue for parties and wedding receptions, both within the house and outside in the gardens.

The Estate contains several miles of chalk stream running through attractive water meadows and woods, as well as two ornamental lakes set in the park.

This habitat supports an abundance of important flora and fauna and is designated environmentally significant under UK and European law, in particular, forming part of the Upper Itchen Special Area of Conservation under the latter.

Fun Facts

The Grange is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in Europe.

First built in the 1660s as a Palladian brick mansion it was leased as a hunting lodge with over 400 deer in the park to George Prince of Wales, later The Prince Regent.

It was transformed in the early 19th century into a magnificent neoclassical residence resembling a Greek temple, complete with resplendent Doric portico.

Although the house is no longer lived in it now provides a striking venue for an annual festival of opera.
