A word from the owner
This remarkable castle, built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, has been my family’s home for 450 years. The Castle is now home to my wife, Elizabeth and our children, all of whom enjoy the Castle as I did as a child. We hope you enjoy your visit.
The Castle stands on the edge of an escarpment giving dramatic views over the Welland Valley and five counties.
Surrounding the Castle there are some 18 acres of gardens largely following the foot print of the medieval castle. The vast 400 year old “Elephant Hedge” bisects the formal 17th century terraced gardens.
Find out more about the garden before you take a walk around.
Visit us on Easter Sunday & Bank Holiday Monday and take part in our Children’s Easter Egg Hunt.
Seek out the brightly coloured eggs which have been hidden in our magnificent gardens. Each egg has a letter, which makes up an Easter word. Once you have found the word you can claim your chocolate egg.
To continue the fun, take part in our family quiz. If your little treasure hunters are still full of beans, they can help Wentworth find his wandering armour and earn a badge as Chief Griffin Assistant!
Admission: Normal admission prices apply. Please note these events are not free for Historic Houses members.
Celebrate your wedding day in exclusive style. Grand, elegant rooms in this magnificent setting are available for your wedding ceremony, right through to late night partying.
Amazing photographic opportunities await with ancient, historic buildings and three formal gardens creating a wonderful backdrop for memories that last a lifetime.
When we first visited Rockingham Castle we immediately fell in love with the beautiful grounds and rich history. To be able to make our own piece of history in such an iconic part of our country's heritage has left us feeling blessed. All the staff's support in the build up and during the day was nothing short of excellent.
For centuries Rockingham Castle has entertained royalty and private guests within its ancient walls. The history and tradition continue today.
The beautiful and peaceful grounds of the Castle provide an ideal backdrop for an out of office meeting, seminar or conference in a spectacular setting.
I have just launched a new product range using Rockingham Castle as the venue. The choice was perfect offering my team the opportunity to experience a totally different meeting venue. The team was extremely helpful and made organising the event totally seamless including adding an afternoon of fun via the Land Rover Experience.
A school trip to Rockingham Castle provides a unique experience that could not be replicated in a school environment.
Our Castle tour usually covers all aspects of the Castle’s history as appropriate to the ages of the group. However, we tailor our tours to your needs therefore special emphasis on a particular period can be arranged.
We welcome requests for filming.
