Overview

Morton Hall Gardens enjoy a dramatic position atop a steep escarpment. Garden and park combine historic and new features and provide the backdrop for a vast plant collection. Accompanied by the owner or the Head Gardener, visitors take a tour through a series of distinctive but linked garden rooms.

The tour starts on the east side of the house outlining the history of the estate and the design of the gardens. Visitors are then taken on a stroll through the individual garden rooms. In the spring, magnificent bulb meadows and woodland gardens take centre stage as well as sumptuous tulip displays in herbaceous borders.

Later in the year, the focus is on the more formal gardens with their intricate blend of perennial and annual planting in elegant colour schemes. The tour concludes on the west side of the house with its spectacular views, framed by a Mediterranean style garden.

4 - 6 May 2019

Tulip Festival

We are delighted to announce the first three-day Morton Hall Gardens Tulip Festival on 4th to 6th May 2019.

In addition to intricate tulip planting schemes in our formal borders, swathes of naturalized bulbs may be enjoyed in our glorious spring meadows and woodland gardens.

In addition to tulips in borders and pots, more tulips will be on display as cut flowers in the Orangery with experts from Bloms, winners of sixty-seven Chelsea Gold Medals, on hand to advise.

The event will be hosted jointly with the Royal Shakespeare Company, as part of our continuous support of the Stitch-in-Time campaign.

Savoury and sweet treats will be on offer in a large marquee with generous seating space. Visitors may admire a selection of original costumes demonstrating the unparalleled craftsmanship of the RSC costume department. Members of the RSC team on site will be happy to provide information about the campaign.

Tickets for this very special event at £10 per adult are now available on the RSC website. Tickets can also be purchased on the day, on a cash basis only. Numbers are limited, and pre-booking is advised.

Please note that coach bookings must be arranged with Morton Hall Gardens directly.
