Chipchase Castle is a rugged border castle of the 14th century consisting of a great Pele tower with corner turrets.
The castle was added to later in the 1620s and more comfortable lodgings which were themselves altered in the mid-18th century. In the mid-19th century dining room furniture by Mein of Kelso was installed.
The site features formal and informal gardens, one walled garden is used as a nursery for unusual perennial plants.
Castle: Chipchase Castle is open for tours 1st – 30th June between 13:00 - 17:00pm.
Gardens: Thursday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, 1 April to 31 July, 10:00am to 17:00pm.
Situated 10 miles north west of Hexham via the A6079 to Chollerton.

Chipchase castle is not a hotel, and therefore all attention is poured into each exclusive wedding, with no other event or customer to consider during each special wedding day. The individual focus sets this magical venue apart. Here wedding couples are free to incorporate individual and special elements into their wedding
Unlike most venues, the Chipchase estate has its own charming chapel which is only a stone’s throw from the castle itself. The chapel can seat up to 90 guests.
Chipchase Castle is licensed for marriages and couples may sign the register in either our magnificent Dining room or Hall.
Marquee hire, catering, and flowers can all be provided through several local companies around the area. We are able to recommend companies based on personal experience and your particular needs
