Fun Facts

Boconnoc’s story begins thousands of years ago. Since the days of the Domesday Book, people have inhabited this beautiful tract of Cornwall—and the estate itself is alive with centuries of history.

Luminaries, royals, and other famous personalities have all found their way to Boconnoc: from King Charles I, who spent the night in what is now the King’s Bedroom, to Thomas “Diamond” Pitt, the former Governor of Madras. In fact, Pitt made Boconnoc his home after selling his infamous diamond—first discovered in Golconda, India—to the French Crown.

The Art of Meditation Foundation Retreat

This is Burgs’ signature retreat that people return to time and time again, year after year. It is designed to be a full spectrum immersion course into the discipline, technique and energetics of meditative practice.

There is so much content offered in this one programme. Burgs introduces different threads to the main body of work each time he runs this retreat. So it serves as both an introduction to meditation for new practitioners whilst simultaneously providing the opportunity for more seasoned meditators to develop their practice.

Boconnoc is tucked down 2 miles of beautiful private drive and completely hidden away from it all.

Your romantic Cornish country estate can accommodate up to 100 for a wedding breakfast in the garden room or 240 with a marquee extension.

The main house sleeps 18 and then boasts a further 3 holiday cottages that sleep 8, 6 and 4 people.

Boconnoc is also lucky enough to have a church onsite, a stone’s throw from the main house, as well as numerous civil and humanist ceremony locations including the 18th-century bath house.

The estate also has its own deer park, cricket pitch and lake – all of which add to the magic of the venue. There is also ample space to create a party the night before in the stable yard.

The house is available for exclusive hire and couples are more than encouraged to make themselves at home and have the freedom to create the wedding they have always imagined.

Boconnoc House is both a beautiful backdrop to your special celebration and an unforgettable place to stay. Between the Boconnoc House Bedrooms, the Dairy House, the Head Groom’s House, and the Groom’s House, up to 40 guests can spend the night. Luxuriate in the historic rooms and rise and shine to the incredible Cornish landscapes at your doorstep.

Switch off, embark on a digital detox, and drink in some of Cornwall’s most beautiful scenery—all from the vantage point of Boconnoc’s Dairy House. Formerly an old dairy, as its name suggests, this renovated house remains one of the estate’s most beloved corners.

One of two beautifully restored buildings in Boconnoc’s Stable Yard, the Head Groom’s House comes with a special recommendation: it was designed by the master architect Sir John Soane.

If you’re planning a rural retreat, the Groom’s House makes for a lovely stay. The renovated cottage in Cornwall—one of two that flank the Stable Yard—features a traditional exterior and other endearing nooks and crannies.
