You’ll find Blair Castle in the traditional Scottish village of Blair Atholl at the entrance to the Cairngorms National Park.

Surrounded by hills and peaceful countryside, the castle has some of Scotland’s finest views. The castle has been transformed through the ages, from its cold medieval beginnings to become a fine Georgian mansion and finally a Victorian castle in the Baronial style.

All of these influences can be seen today on a castle tour.

Fun Facts

Blair Castle was a favorite place for Queen Victoria to visit, she gave the Atholl Highland army the right to bear arms on one of her visits and it remains the last private army in Europe.

There is a fantastic network of walks on Atholl Estates, exploring our glens and woodland and open moorland. Longer routes take you into the hills and the wilder parts of the Cairngorms.
For the intrepid walker, there are six Munros and two Corbetts and various long-distance routes through the hills such as Glen Tilt and the Minigaig Pass.
There are also many paths in the woods between the castle and the caravan park which you can explore yourself. We also have six waymarked trails ranging from the one mile Red Squirrel Trail in the woods to the beautiful 10 mile Glen Tilt Trail.
