One of the most beautiful homes in England, Adlington Hall, home of the Leghs from 1315 was built on the site of a Hunting Lodge in the Forest of Macclesfield in 1040.
Two oaks, part of the original building, remain rooted in the ground supporting the east end of the Great Hall. Between the trees stands an organ which was played on by Handel and is still operational today.
Other rooms include the beautiful oak-panelled Dining Room, Chapel, Minstrels’ Gallery, Chinese room and Number 10 bedroom. The rooms all display original furniture alongside paintings and portraits that bring to life the story of the house and its occupants.
The Gardens include a Lime walk planted in 1688 and a Regency rockery surrounding Shell Cottage. The Wilderness area includes a Rococo styled landscape garden containing the T'Ing House, a Pagoda bridge and the Temple to Diana. The 60 acres of gardens also include a Rose Garden and Yew Maze.
Easter to 30 September: Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, 2pm to 5pm (last admission 3.45pm).
Nestled in the Cheshire countryside on the outskirts of Macclesfield, between Prestbury and Poynton. Adlington Train Station is less than 5 minutes walk from the venue.

We were very impressed with the excellent service provided. The team was very attentive and were quick and keen to try and meet our special requests with the owner. The food was lovely and our guests all commented on the uniqueness of the venue for such an important occasion as ours
Adlington Hall reflects both the history of English architecture and the 700-year story of a single family, the Leghs. Two sides of the courtyard and the east wing were built in the typical 'black and white' Cheshire style. The south front and west wing were added between 1749 and 1757 and are built of red brick.
The highlight of the house is The Great Hall. Here you’ll find the Great Organ, other rooms include the beautiful oak-panelled dining room, the chapel, the Minstrels’ Gallery, the Chinese room, the Number 10 bedroom, and the old nursery. The rooms all display original furniture alongside paintings and portraits that bring to life the story of the house and its occupants.
Adlington Hall and our vast and versatile grounds make an excellent location or backdrop for TV and film productions, both internally and externally. We’re easy to reach from all over the North West and have plenty of parking available. We have worked with independent production companies as well as BBC and ITV and numerous magazine shoots have taken place at the Hall.
Parking for up to 100 cars – completely exclusive venue prices starting from £1,000 per filming day (7am – 8pm).
